TV Presenters Ant and Dec Showcase Ireland on ITV

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s latest TV show, Ant and Dec’s DNA Journey, was aired in mid November with much of it having been filmed in Ireland.

The two-part ITV documentary showed the pair’s investigation into their ancestors and took them to Drumkeeran in Co. Leitrim, Desertmartin and Slieve Gallion in the Sperrins, as well as to Fermoy in Co. Cork and Castle Ward in Co. Down. Along the way the pair met with relatives and discovered old family connections via DNA matching.

Tourism Ireland worked with ITV to bring Ant and Dec and the ITV crew here.

“We were delighted to support Ant and Dec’s visit to Ireland,” said Julie Wakely, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Britain. “The two episodes were seen by viewers across Britain – highlighting our landscape and encouraging British travellers to put Ireland on their holiday ‘wish-list’. Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies in Britain, and elsewhere around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes.

Britain continues to be a very important market for tourism to the island of Ireland, delivering 42% of all overseas visitors and around 24% of all overseas tourism revenue. Its contribution to the regional tourism economy and to season extension objectives are also significant, with 45% of British visitors arriving between October and March.”
