Tourism Programme Trains Future Hotel Leaders

Staff from the Cabra Castle Hotel and Hotel Kilmore, Cavan and the Shirley Arms Hotel, The Hillgrove Hotel and The Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan have completed the Fáilte Ireland Enhancing Management and Supervisory Skills programme at Cabra Castle Hotel in Cavan at the start of May.

Fáilte Ireland has introduced the bespoke training programme to help develop the skills of hotel employees with strong management potential and, in turn, ease the skills shortage the industry is facing at leadership level.

The programme builds on Fáilte Ireland’s Service Excellence programme and includes modules on effective leadership, team management and cultural awareness.

Martina Bromley, Head of Enterprise and Hospitality Development at Fáilte Ireland, said: “In recent years, the recruitment of personnel at supervisory and management levels has proven to be a challenge for the hotel sector. At Fáilte Ireland, we’ve introduced the Enhancing Management and Supervisory Skills programme to support industry in this area so that their existing staff, who already have significant technical expertise, can gain the management skills they need to become effective leaders and motivate their staff.”

Ireland’s Ancient East Manager at Fáilte Ireland, Mark Mohan, added: “Ireland’s Ancient East is making a significant impact on tourism across the region, delivering increased visitor numbers and spend, extending the tourism season and creating jobs. Today’s programme also focused on the Ireland’s Ancient East brand and how these hotels can provide a top-class experience to their visitors.”
