Tourism Ireland kickstarted its 2019 promotional campaign for the American market at the end of December, with a week-long TV campaign that was seen by millions of potential tourists.
The TV campaign, Fill Your Heart with Ireland, aired on major networks including NBC, CBS and ABC, in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Dallas. Tourism Ireland is targeting Minneapolis and Dallas, to help capitalise on new flights to Dublin from both cities due to launch in 2019.
The ads aired around popular entertainment programmes with large audiences over the Christmas and New Year’s period. The campaign was complemented by a digital video campaign, with a 30 second ad running on a number of websites.
Additionally, double decker buses in New York and Los Angeles wrapped with images from the ads were operating on busy routes in both cities for the duration of the campaign.
The advertising marks the beginning of the 2019 promotional drive for Tourism Ireland in America.
Niall Gibbons, Tourism Ireland’s CEO, said: “2018 will be the sixth record year in a row for visitor numbers to the island of Ireland from North America. By the end of this year, we will have welcomed around 2.06m American and Canadian visitors, delivering revenue of €1.85bn for the economy.
“Looking to 2019, access developments augur well for continued growth from the United States, with a new Aer Lingus flight to Dublin from Minneapolis-St Paul and a new American Airlines flight from Dallas. We look forward to building on this year’s success in 2019 and beyond.”
