The island of Ireland was promoted to tour operators and travel agents from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland at Tourism Ireland’s 2019 Nordic trade workshop, held at the start of February in Copenhagen.
27 tourism companies from Ireland took part in the workshop, meeting and networking with Nordic tour operators, to encourage them to extend their Ireland offering, or to include Ireland for the first time, in their brochures and programmes.
Commenting on the workshop, Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: “We are delighted that so many Nordic travel professionals took the time to come and meet with our partners from the island of Ireland, to learn about our tourism offering. The Nordic Region is an important market for tourism to Ireland, with CSO figures for 2018 indicating around 259,200 Nordic arrivals, an increase of 2.4% on 2017. We will roll out an extensive programme of promotions throughout 2019, to keep the momentum going and build on that success.”
