Tourism Ireland’s drive to grow the number of golf visitors to the island of Ireland continued recently at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, in south east England, supported by a number of golf and tourism operators.

One of the European Tour’s biggest golf competitions, the BMW PGA Championship attracts top players and thousands of spectators and international media each year, providing a fantastic platform to highlight golfing in Ireland.

Golf holidays in Ireland are a major focus for Tourism Ireland in Britain, and in other key markets around the world, and the organisation has a programme of promotions under way to grow the number of golf tourists in 2015 and beyond.

David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s deputy head of Britain, said: “Our presence at the BMW PGA Championship was another excellent opportunity to the world-class golf on offer right around the island of Ireland. Our message is that Ireland offers golfers the complete package – with top courses, stunning scenery and the warmest of welcomes.”
