Borrisoleigh Bottling Limited (BBL) has launched two new environmentally sensitive boxed water products to the market under the Global Hydrate brand, using water from a renowned Tipperary source and are bottled on site in the small village of Borrisoleigh.
BBL was established in 2017 by John Hegarty and a group of local supporters with long experience in the production of bottled water.
The two new products are:
- An eight litre bag-in-box which comes with a drip-free tap which makes it easy from which to fill a glass without spillage.
- A 500ml Tetra Top Carton where the carton is made from 88% renewable material (paperboard and sugarcane) and is 100% recyclable. The wider neck makes it easier to drink from and the paperboard carton tends to keep the water cooler for longer.
The BBL team are aware of the shortcomings of single-use-plastic as a bottling solution and have been working to evolve alternative approaches within their product range. The carton & box solutions are targeted at the high volume bottled water market, priced competitively with the market leading brands but differentiated by their environmentally sensitive packaging.
Given the groundswell of public opinion, and a growing movement in global environmental policy against the use of single-use-plastic, the company believes that this product approach will provide the consumer with an environmentally friendly packaging choice.
