The four star Limerick Strand Hotel has announced three new management appointments, including the promotion of Dermot Fehily to Operations Manager.
John Beattie has been appointed Deputy General Manager, having most recently been in Killarney working for O’Donoghue/Ring Hotels. Originally from Ballina, Co. Mayo John began his hotel career locally at The Downhill Hotel and began studying International Hotel Management and Business Studies at Shannon College. After graduating John spent several years in Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol working with Principal Hotels, IHG and JurysDoyle Hotel Group. John then returned to Ireland and worked at the Hodson Bay and Carlton Hotel Groups before joining Dalata Hotels where he was based since 2015 at the Ballsbridge Hotel as Operations Manager.
John McCarthy has been appointed as Duty Manager and started his career with the Hotel Europe in Killarney and from there went on to study Hotel and Catering Management in Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. He continued his training with The Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge in Limerick, and honed his skills working with some of Ireland’s renowned properties including Kelly’s Resort Hotel & Spa, Rosslare and the Four Seasons, Dublin. After his training, he returned to Kelly’s as a Junior Manager befre leaving Ireland to travel and diversify into sales, which he did extensively throughout The Middle East working from Qatar to Dubai.
In 2010 John returned home and took up a role as restaurant manager for Lydon House Catering in Limerick. In late 2013 he took on the role of sales, operations and commercial manager for the IGB.
Internally, Dermot Fehily has been promoted to Operations Manager. A Limerick native and graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management, Dermot has over 30 years experience in the hospitality business including a stint in Australia and five star experience at Dublin’s former Grand Dame, The Berkley Court Hotel. Looking to return to his home county, Dermot moved back to Limerick and worked with The Gresham Hotel Group (Gresham Ardhu) and from there to the South Court Hotel with the Lynch Hotel Group. He also managed his own business in the Woodfield House Hotel and then joined the Limerick Strand In 2013.
