If you’ve ever wanted to know what the most comforting meal in the world is, British condiments manufacturer Coleman’s has pulled together the most comforting aspects of classic dishes and put them all together on a plate, creating the sausage macerole.
Aside from having a hilarious name, the sausage macerole contains a rich gravy with British pork sausages, onions and sauteed mushrooms, a layer of macaroni and a topping of two types of cheese with, of course, some Coleman’s English Mustard.
The combination was created to mark the 200th birthday of Coleman’s, which has been burning tongues and upsetting unaware eaters since 1814.
For the anniversary, Coleman’s commissioned a study around the idea of comfort food. The poll showed that 97% of the 2,000 people surveyed turn to comfort food in a time of need, and their favourite dishes included Sunday roast and fish & chips.
