Pat Cohan’s Bar & Restaurant, the pub made famous in The Quiet Man film, is now available for lease.
The traditional pub was immortalised in John Ford’s 1952 film The Quiet Man, starring Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne. The film set the tone for American perceptions of life in Ireland and its influence still resonates today.
Pat Cohan’s in Cong, Co. Mayo, is arguably one of the most famous bars in the west of Ireland and occupies a prime position in the historic village. The pub is currently owned by the McGrath family who are looking to lease the property. It was carefully renovated in 2014, and provides seating for 80 patrons at capacity.
As part of the lease agreement, the name must remain unchanged along with much of the bar itself. The pub enjoys a busy trade and benefits from a strong tourism interest year-round.
The lease is behing handled by agent Michael Burke & Co, New Street, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo.
