The Lemon Tree Seafood Restaurant, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford has been awarded Just Ask Restaurant of the Month for October.

The Just Ask Restaurant of the Month rewards eateries across Ireland that exhibit best practices in showing transparency in the sourcing of the food on their menus.

Joan Boland’s restaurant is known for its fresh fish, home baking and friendly atmosphere. Joan already had a following for her Lemon Tree Catering company when she opened her roadside café in 2008 and it has since been a consistently popular destination for regulars, who appreciate the homemade food on offer.

A large blackboard in the restaurant details the current suppliers, many of whom are also listed on the website. Speaking about their suppliers and producers, proprietor and Head Chef Joan said: “Meat suppliers include Aeron James’ Portally Lamb and Will Drohan for his unique Comeragh Mountain Lamb. Quinlans in Waterford supply us with our Irish chicken and game is supplied by Wild Irish Game.

“Beef is sourced from Ballymooney Meats and Lisduggan Farm Foods and our gammon and bacon come from Country Style in Waterford. Oysters are supplied by Woodstown Bay Shellfish and other seafood suppliers include Flanagans Fish, fishermen Mick Fitzgerald and Richard Power (for crab and lobster), and Ballyhack Smokehouse near Arthurstown for their naturally smoked salmon.

“Rathmoylan Free Range Eggs in Waterford supply us with Bord Bia Quality Assured eggs and Inch House in Thurles supply us with their famed black pudding. Vegetables and herbs are carefully sourced from Grantstown Nurseries, Waterford and Tom Cleary Vegetables, Wexford.”
