Travel and lifestyle journalists from a number of high profile Spanish media outlets visited Ireland recently, travelling aroun the Ancient East.
The travel group included representatives of lifestyle magazines, a radio station and Catalonia’s leading daily newspaper, and were here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
They flew to Cork on an Aer Lingus flight from Barcelona and visited Titanic Experience Cobh, Jameson Distillery Midleton, Ardmore, Lismore Castle and the Rock of Cashel. The aim of their visit was to highlight the range of things to see and do in this part of Ireland for Spanish holidaymakers, as well as ease of access from Catalonia to Cork on the direct flight.
Spain is an important market for tourism Ireland, and travel by Spanish visitors to Ireland has grown significantly over the past 17 years – from 90,000 in 2000 to a record 435,000 in 2017.
Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these Spanish journalist to visit Ireland’s Ancient East, to experience for themselves some of the things to see and do here. Visits like this are an invaluable part of Tourism Ireland’s overall promotional programme.”
