Angling enthusiasts across Britain will be tuning in to Cobh and Co. Cork next spring, following a visit by a Sky Sports crew this week who were here to film an episode of Tight Lines, Britain’s number one fishing programme.
The crew, invited to film here by Tourism Ireland in London and Fáilte Ireland, captured footage in the Cobh area for an episode of Tight Lines which will air on Sky Sports in spring 2015 – to an estimated audience of more than 120,000 viewers.
This is the second Sky Sports crew to film about angling in Cork this year. In July, Sky Sports broadcast from the World Feeder Fishing Championships at Inniscarra Reservoir, near Coachford.
Vanessa Markey, Tourism Ireland’s head of Great Britain, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted that this popular fishing programme agreed to film in around Cobh. With an audience of more than 120,000 viewers, this positive exposure for Cobh and Co. Cork is invaluable.
Media visits to Ireland is just one element of Tourism Ireland’s busy autumn promotional campaign, which is in full swing right now. The programme aims to boost late-season travel to Ireland from Britain and elsewhere around the world. The September to December period usually yields as much as 30% of Ireland’s annual overseas tourism business.
