Representatives of Shannon Heritage met with senior executives from Tourism Ireland recently, during a visit to New York.
Managing Director Niall O’Callaghan and Head of Marketing Marie Slattery were briefed on Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme for 2018, which is in full swing right now and aims to continue to grow American visitor numbers to Ireland.
Tourism Ireland has prioritised North America as a market which offers a strong return on investment, in terms of holiday visitors and expenditure.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “We were delighted to have an update from Shannon Heritage and to have the opportunity to brief them about our promotional programme in the United States.
“Last year, we welcomed a record 1.83m visitors from North America to the island of Ireland. The growth momentum continues in 2018, with an increase of 11% in visitors for the January to June period. We are confident that our strategy for growth and marketing programme, combined with more airline seats than ever before and the vacation experience on offer in Ireland, will deliver further record growth this year and into 2019.”
