Repeat Business Boosts Caterer Wilson Vale

Contract caterer Wilson Vale has reported an 11% increase in turnover and a rise in profit in 2018, as it held onto a series of contracts in addition to gaining new business.

The company, which employs nearly 820 people, reported turnover of just under £34m (€39.5m) for the year to 31st December 2018.

A total of seven of its existing contracts went out to tender last year and it retained six of them, and is waiting for a decision on the seventh.

Meanwhile, it also won contracts at Herne Hill School, its first independent school in central London; Kent College, an independent boarding school in Pembridge; and Lane End, a conference centre near High Wycombe.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder of Wilson Vale, said: “It’s good to report that our continued investment in our management structure and resources have resulted in a positive set of numbers for 2018.

“Investment on its own, of course, is never enough. Hard work, commitment, innovation, enjoyment and strong determination to maintain the highest level of client service standards go hand-in-hand with it. Our retentions are undoubtedly as a result of this focus on relationships with our clients.”

“We continue, some would say in an old-fashioned conservative model, to have no debt or bank facilities. This gives us flexibility and financial autonomy, ensuring that we maintain control at all times.”

Wilson Vale now has 95 clients, serviced and overseen by four general managers and twelve area managers. Its projected annual turnover for 2019 is £35.5m (€41.2m).
