Paul Duffy Steps Down as Head of Pernod Ricard North America

Pernod Ricard has announced that Paul Duffy, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard North America and a member of the Group’s Executive Committee (COMEX), is to step down from his roles in advance of his return to Ireland.

Mr. Duffy will be replaced by Ann Mukherjee as of December 2nd 2019.

Ann Mukherjee is currently Chief Commercial Officer of S. C. Johnson & Son, a global family manufacturer of household and professional products. Paul will continue to serve until Ann’s arrival.

A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Paul Duffy joined Pernod Ricard in 1994 as Assistant Finance Director of the Treasury/Planning Team at Irish Distillers Limited. Three years later, he was appointed Finance Director, before being appointed Managing Director of Pernod Ricard UK in 2001. In May 2005, Paul returned to Ireland to take up the position of Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Irish Distillers. During Paul’s tenure, he contributed to accelerating the growth of the Jameson brand, particularly in the United States where he served as Managing Director of Pernod Ricard USA from 2008 to 2012.

He was then nominated as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Absolut Company, returning four years later to the United States as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard North America.

Pernod’s sales in the US market have risen by 6% in the three months through September, driven alrgely by Jameson Irish whiskey.

Seperately, after 32 years within Pernod Ricard, Bruno Rain will be retiring from the group and from his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard Winemakers.

Bryan Fry, currently Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Pacific, has been appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard Winemakers, replacing Bruno with effect December 2nd, 2019. He will report into Christian Porta, Group Managing Director of Global Business Development, and will be a member of the Group’s Executive Committee.
