The Fáilte Ireland supported One Young World Conference has opened and takes place in the Convention Centre Dublin from October 15th until Sunday October 19th.

The event will welcome 1,400 delegates as well as many high profile public figures and global corporate leaders. The delegates are all leading lights in social change and are mostly between the ages of 18-30 years old and are from 196 countries.

Fáilte Ireland, through the Dublin Convention Bureau, supported the bid to bring the event to Dublin as part of its Conference Ambassador Programme. Local hosts were assisted both practically and financially to prepare the bid and host a site inspection. The bid process, which began in March 2013, saw Dublin beat off stiff competition from Edinburgh and Hong Kong.

Fáilte Ireland estimates that the event will be worth almost €2m in direct economic impact for the local economy, but it is even more valuable as an opportunity to market ourselves as a ‘can-do’ and professional business destination. To emphasise this, Fáilte Ireland will host a special Welcome Dinner in the CCD on the first night for high profile international sponsors from the corporate world, as well as overseas media.
