New Zealanders to Tune into Ireland

Images of the island of Ireland will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people in New Zealand later this year.

Tourism Ireland recently invited a popular morning TV show, The Café, to film at various locations in Northern Ireland, Donegal and Dublin. The show airs on Three, a nationwide channel.

The TV crew filmed the show’s presenters, Mel Homer and Debbie Griffiths, visiting tourist attractions and locations including Epic The Irish Emigration Museum, the Guinness Storehouse, Enniskillen Castle, the city of Derry, Slieve League, and Bundoran.

They were joined by one of New Zealand’s largest media companies, New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME), who captured video vignettes along the way for the website and social channels of Coast Radio, a nationwide radio station. Mel Homer also presents a show on Coast Radio and the crew filmed her exploring her Irish ancestry during her time here.

Darragh Walshe, Tourism Ireland, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these film crews to visit the island of Ireland. Their footage will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people across New Zealand, inspiring them to put the island of Ireland on their holiday ‘wish list’ for 2019.”
