MyLocal has launched a new initiative in partnership with LoyLap (an Irish fintech company specialising in payment solutions), specifically designed to support pubs during the COVID 19 crisis.
Developed by Dylan Martin, Angela Martin and Colm Devine, MyLocal enables communities to come together and support local pubs in a safe and secure way. Customers can now purchase an online pub-specific voucher on loyal2mylocal.com, with the funds transferred directly to the chosen pub via Stripe. Pubs can then use these cash advances to help keep them afloat until they are able to reopen.
Pubs register to participate as a merchant by visiting loyal2mylocal.com. Registration is free and the process is quick and easy. Should a pub require support during the signup process, customer service agents are on hand to assist. Registered pubs will also receive a marketing toolkit, including marketing assets to promote the initiative to their customers.
Once pubs are reopened, customers can then redeem their vouchers by presenting the barcode on their phone or as a printout, which can be scanned by the pubs using the free merchant app.
Commenting on the new initiative, Colm Devine, co-founder of MyLocal, said: “Pubs are a huge part of the Irish culture and are very much in the centre of the community. Local pubs are a home away from home for many people which is why individuals want to support pubs through this uncertain time. MyLocal is a tangible way that people can support their local pub and it’s a win-win situation for the pubs and for the customers; People aren’t being asked to donate or crowdfund, they’re simply buying a voucher to use at their local pub on re-opening and at the same time they’re supporting their pub by giving them the cashflow they need. This is a safe, easy-to-use platform where people can come together and truly make a difference.”
