The annual Murphy’s Cork Oyster and Seafood Festival will take place this coming 20th – 22nd September 2019.
The weekend will host the opening reception at the Metropole Hotel on Friday 20th September with live street music from the Cork City Samba band and flamed oysters from Harty Oysters. The Lazy Chef, Simon Lamont, will be theatrically flaming oysters whilst Canadian shucker Paddy will be shucking oysters outside the hotel.
A demonstration in association with Midleton Distillery and Jameson Irish Whiskey will be taking place within the hotel. Head Cooper from the distillery, Ger Buckley, will be demonstrating how a barrel is made and also doing a tasting session of Jameson whiskies including one designed by Ger from the Coopers Croze range.
At 9pm, Paddy Casey will perform in the main ballroom of the hotel to open the weekend.
On Saturday 21st September, the annual Cork Gourmet Trail will take place. The day will begin at 12 noon with a drinks reception in the Metropole Hotel followed by a tour across Cork city. Guests will get to sample food and drinks from a dozen restaurants.
Back at the Metropole Hotel, Cork Oyster & Seafood Festival visitors can partake in activities such as a Jameson & oyster pairing session and Prosecco & oyster pairing session.
Later that night, the Frank and Walters will take to the stage in the main ballroom of the hotel.
On Sunday, the Cork Oyster & Seafood All Ireland Oyster Shucking Competition will take place at the hotel.
