Mondelez Ireland has announced a partnership with Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme, in an effort to help promote sustainability in the foodservice sector.

Origin Green is the only sustainable food programme in a world that’s operating on a national scale.  The initiative is indipendently verified and enables farmers and food manufacturers to set and achieve measurable sustainability targets, such as reducing environmental impact, serving local communities more effectively and protecting Ireland’s natural resources.

Mondelez Ireland is the producer of such brands as Kenco and Cadbury in Ireland and has three manufacturing plants in Ireland.  The sites focus on producing raw materials sourced from the locality while reducing wastage and maximising efficiency.

“We prioritise sustainability as part of our integrated business strategy.  From the milk farmers in Munster, the cocoa farms in Ghana who grow Fairtrade cocoa for Cadbury Dairy Milk, to the customers and consumers in our communities, we make sustainability a reality,” said Patrick Miskelly, manufacturing director of Mondelez Ireland.

“We have already achieved significant positive change in Ireland – but we have a lot more goals to achieve – and partnering with Origin Green will help us to achieve these ambitions.”
