Alltech Beverage Division Ireland (ABDI) has officially launched its new Irish pot still gin, Míl Gin.
The gin is distilled with Mediterranean influenced botanicals, including almond, basil, bergamot orange, gooseberry, juniper, olives, orris, rosemary and thyme.
The new product is already making waves on the international market with launches planned for the UK, mainland Europe, The US, Japan and China in the coming months.
The development of Míl Gin began with a team at the Pearse Lyons Distillery, based in the refurbished St. James Church in Dublin’s Liberties. Inspired by the links between this historic site and the Camino de Santiago in North-West Spain, where tradition has it St. James is buried, they began exploring recipes for an Iberian-Irish fusion gin.
This led them to Míl, the mythical Spanish warrior whose descendants are said to have populated Ireland.
Speaking at the launch, Conor Ryan, Global Spirits Ambassador for ABDI, said: “There is literally nothing on the Irish market like Míl which makes us really excited. It is quite simply a full-flavoured Mediterranean gin which does not try to be anything different. The base is a pure Irish grain spirit which is then distilled with a range of wonderfully fragrant Mediterranean botanicals.”
Míl Gin will be available in to purchase in all good spirits retailers, bars and restaurants nationwide.
