Losses Recorded at Itsa Bagel

A post-tax loss of €62,901 was recorded for the year ending February 2017 for Itsa Bagel Ltd, according to newly filed accounts.

The company, owned by celebrity food writer Domini Kemp, underwent restructuring during 2017 that included the closure of seven Itsa outlets, the rebranding of a number of others to the Joe's Speciality Coffee brand and the disposal of leases.

Ms. Kemp has said that the small loss can be attributed to the costs associated with closing units and rebranding exercises. As well, a new centralised kitchen required a significant up front investment.

Staff count has increased, up from 100 and 110. Ms. Kemp has confirmed that "Business and staff numbers will continue to grow".

Despite the losses, Ms. Kemp has said that the company is on course for healthy results in the year ending February 2018.

The business currently operates 13 locations, including five Joe's Speciality Coffee outlets. Only two shops, Arnotts on Henry St and a standalone Dún Laoghaire shop, are branded as Itsa.
