Hines and Peterson Group has announced that Krispy Kreme will be the latest high-profile tenant to secure space at Central Plaza on Dame Street, Dublin.

Krispy Kreme has attracted huge interest since opening in Blanchardstown in 2018, with residents complaining of the noise as people queued outside at night for the company’s doughnuts.

The new fully glazed shop is due to open early next year when the Central Plaza project is completed. Extending to 234m2 on the plaza with an additional 89m2 at sub plaza level, the unit will front onto both Dame Street and the pedestrian walkway linking Dame Street to Temple Bar.

Thanks to its entirely glazed structure, Krispy Kreme’s workshop will be a showcase on the Plaza, with customers and passers-by able to view the doughnuts being made.

Brian Moran, senior managing director of Hines, said: “With the Central Plaza project now nearing completion, we’re looking forward to seeing Krispy Kreme serving up its iconic doughnuts to a very expectant customer audience here in the city centre very soon indeed”.

As the Central Plaza project nears completion, the public is also getting its first sight of the major changes and upgrades to the restored buildings.

The eight floors of office space in the development, which is already leased to WeWork and Amtrust Financial, will house approx. 1,300 office workers. In total there will be upward of 1,500 workers on-site across all uses.

Restoration of Central Plaza’s interior is almost complete and will feature a 6-meter-high entrance lobby and 15-metre wide glazed facade with double-height revolving doors, accessible via a grand staircase from the main plaza.

Peter Lynn, Director with Hines Real Estate Ireland Ltd, said: “While some office tenants are already occupying the upper floors in our buildings on College Green, the next phase of incoming tenants who include WeWork, Bujo, Las Iguanas, Ginos and now Krispy Kreme are all due to start fitting out in early 2021. This is going to see a major influx of new people coming to work, eat and play in this wonderful complex, in what will undoubtedly be a major addition to the city centre. We hope to have further exciting announcements in respect of additional tenant activity and developments in the weeks and months ahead.”
