Michelin star Chef JP McMahon has joined the lineup of chefs taking part in the Connemara Mussel Festival, set to take place in Tullycross, Renvyle, Co. Galway this coming 3rd – 5th May.
Now in its 14th year, the festival has joined with Galway County Council in their Green Your Festival initiative. All our food containers, implements and coffee cups at the festival are certified compostable and can be placed in the compost/food waste bins provided.
JP McMahon will be serving up a seaweed and lamb dish using Connemara lamb. Executive head Cchef Jack Duffy meanwhile will host demonstrations on paella pan cooking.
Justyna Janusiewicz of locally based vegan company, Sweet Nothings, will showcase how to cook a range of fresh vegan dishes using seaweed.
One of Ireland’s leading field archaeologists, Michael Gibbons, will host talks on Connemara’s maritime history and archaeology in addition to fieldtrips into the Connemara Highlands. Historian Seán Gannon will shed new insights on traditional views of the Amritsar Massacre one hundred years on.
Children’s cookery workshops will be hosted by John O’Toole & Marguriette Heanue of Kylemore Abbey, where kids can learn first hand from the theme Get your Vitamin Sea.
The opening night concert will include an original play The Blow In, composed by local man and award winning director Tristan Heanue.
