Tourism Ireland’s drive to grow the number of golf visitors to the island of Ireland continued at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, in south-east England.
Three tourism companies from the island of Ireland joined Tourism Ireland at the event.
One of the European Tour’s biggest golf competitions, the BMW PGA Championship attracts major players, thousands of spectators and international journalists each year. Golf holidays on the island of Ireland continue to be a significant focus for Tourism Ireland in Britain, and in other markets around the world, and the organisation is rolling out a programme of promotions to grow the number of golf tourists in 2019 and beyond.
“Our presence at this year’s BMW PGA Championship provided us with another opportunity to highlight our golf,” said Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain. “This is just one element of Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme to encourage more golfers in Britain to consider a holiday on the island of Ireland this year.
“We’re also taking every opportunity to highlight the fact that the Ryder Cup will take place at Adare Manor in 2026.”
