A group of over twenty of the world’s leading media from the USA, South Africa, India and Europe have arrived in Ireland to celebrate two of our most iconic writers, Yeats and Joyce.
Fáilte Ireland is hosting these influential media as they tour Sligo during the festivities for Yeats Day. Afterwards, the group will head to Dublin to celebrate Bloomsday. The media on this tour represent a variety of leading newspapers, online media and radio shows and have a combined circulation of over 12m.
Festivals and events are an important component of the Irish tourism product offering, providing opportunities to showcase culture, people and places, thereby improving the visitor experience of Ireland. With this in mind, Fáilte Ireland have planned and made bespoke arrangements to create an itinerary for the group to experience landscapes, visit Parke’s Castle, cruise on Lough Gill, and stop at Yeats Grave.
Ciara Sugrue, Head of International Publicity, commented: “These trips are a wonderful opportunity for overseas media to come and experience at first hand the culture and heritage of Ireland and, as such, they play a key role in publicising Ireland’s unique attraction to a global audience.”
