This coming November 12th is National Happy Hour Day and this year, the holiday lands on a Friday – perfect for at-home mixologists to try their hand at some new cocktails.

Ketel One Vodka and Zacapa Rum have released some simple DIY cocktail recipes that can be made at home with a few easily available ingredients.

Zacapa’s Mixologist, Lynnette Marrero, said: “Zacapa Rum is like a cocktail. It has nuance and balance. You can taste it over and over and still discover new aromas and flavors.
“Zacapa can take you so many places because it is so layered with complex flavors.  The easiest way for beginners is to find your favorite whiskey or cognac classic cocktail recipes and sub in Zacapa Rum! My favorite is also Negroni or, what we like to call a Zegroni variation!”
Lynnette is a big proponent of Zacapa as a bar cart staple.  “Zacapa No.23 is great for your bar cart because it’s unique and versatile,” she said.
“It is made up of a blend of rums aged between 6 and 23 years in barrels that previously held spirits like whiskey and sherry, giving it the flexibility to be substituted in cocktails that traditionally call for whiskey like an Old Fashioned. It is also wonderful on its own to sip neat or on the rocks. Its versatility lends well in culinary applications as well.”
