Hatters’ Lane, Athlone, Launches Christmas Menu

Hatters’ Lane Bistro on Strand Street in Athlone has launched a new Christmas menu for December, with a focus on Irish ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

The menu is made up of between 75% and 80% Irish products, including Hereford beef from Offaly, organic salads from Millhouse Farm in Roscommon, as well as pork from Horan’s Pork Shop, mince from Dunning’s Master Butchers, and fruit and vegetables from Behan’s – all of which are based in Athlone.

The aim of the new menu is to showcase a mixture of contemporary Irish cuisine with a continental influence while also incorporating a festive element in the run up to Christmas. The menu itself gives a hat-tip to the classic dishes that Hatter’s Lane customers have been enjoying year-in-year-out whilst bringing something new to the table.

For starters diners can choose from a range of dishes such as tea-smoked chicken salad with candied spice walnuts & blue cheese dressing; golden fried brie with herb croutons & red currant dressing; and citrus gin cured salmon with avocado & lime puree.

Mains on offer range from roast turkey breast wrapped in Serrano ham, garden herb & cranberry stuffing, honey glazed carrots and roast gravy; slow braisd pork shoulder with buttered cabbbage, bacon lardons, Calvados jus & apple puree; and pan-seared fillet of salmon with braised fennel, orange, walnut, tarragon butter and pea puree.

For dessert, diners can choose the famous Hatters’ Toblerone cheesecake with freshly whipped cream and chocolate sauce; or eggnog panna cotta with raspberries & pistachio crumb. An extensive wine list is also available at Hatters’ Lane Bistro for diners to choose from, as well as an array of beers and spirits.

While the new and trending ideas and techniques the team are using for create the dishes for this Christmas menu are exciting, they’ve also retained what has been key to Hatters’ success over the years; a focus on high quality bistro style dining.”

The Christmas Menu is available Monday to Saturday from 5.30pm to 10.00pm and costs €35 for three courses with a special menu that changes from week to week available on Sundays from 12.00pm to 7.00pm.
