Lonely Planet has named the Giant’s Causeway as the number three visitor experience in the UK, as part of a list that includes 19 other Northern Ireland visitor attractions.
Lonely Planet’s Ultimate UK Travelist includes the guide’s top 500 experiences across Britain, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. Other Northern Ireland locations mentioned include Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, a black taxi tour of Belfast, and the Marble Arch Caves.
Topping the list is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, followed by the British Museum in London.
Tourism Ireland has welcomed the news that the Giant’s Causeway came in at number three, and will be leveraging the placement with posts on its social media channels, in particular Facebook and Twitter.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “The inclusion of 20 Northern Ireland experiences and attractions – including the Giant’s Causeway at number three – in Lonely Planet’s Ultimate UK Travelist is good news and will surely help to inspire GB travellers to put Northern Ireland on their holiday wish-list.”
