Gertie Browne’s, at 9 Custume Place in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, is launching a series of gin tasting masterclasses with local Irish distillers from around the island of Ireland.
Eoin Bara, founder of Arderin Distillery in Tullamore where Mór Irish Gin is distilled, will host the first event on Thursday 7th November at 8.30pm.
During the masterclass, Eoin will serve up tasters of Mór Irish Gin mixed with premium tonics, topped with garnishes, while talking attendees through the history of his family’s distillery background which dates back as far as the 1930s.
Eoin will also be chatting through the development of the Mór Irish Gin spirits, as well as advising on food and drink pairings. Attendees on the evening will be treated to a selection of finger food prepared by the kitchen at Hatters’ Lane Bistro.
Daniel Cosgrove, General Manager of Gertie Browne’s and Hatters’ Lane Bistro, said: “The shelves here at Gertie Browne’s are filled with a wide selection of local Irish gins and we get a lot of questions from our customers asking about the background of where they come from as well as what ways we recommend drinking them. As we consider ourselves to be a ‘talking pub’, we thought why not invite the distillers themselves in to host an evening where both we and our customers can connect with them on a more personal level.
“The ‘Gin Series’ events allow us to get behind our local Irish distillers by helping them to tell their stories but also gives our customers a chance to learn something new while also providing them with an exciting new way to spend an evening with family or friends.”
Entry to the event on November 7th is free but as spaces are limited booking is advisable through https://www.facebook.com/events/2479061955707764/.
