Game of Thrones has spilled out onto the streets surrounding Belfast’s City Hall, where Tourism Ireland has been organising a series of Game of Thrones-themed stunts using fantastical props from the hit TV series.
The latest stunt took place in Belfast on Tuesday 12th April, when people saw three-eyed ravens come to life and flock to Belfast City Hall. The animatronic ravens were ‘migrating’ to Belfast, as Westeros continues to appear in surprising locations around Northern Ireland.
Other stunts include old-fashioned wooden signs pointing the way to the Iron Islands and other Westeros locations, near to where filming took place in Northern Ireland, again with a three-eyed raven perching on some of the signs. As well, true-to-scale giant’s footprints were spotted on Portstewart Strand – appropriately enough heading in the direction of the Giant’s Causeway.
Tourism Ireland has been releasing a mixture of short videos and images from the various stunts on Facebook and Twitter, which are then being shared by Game of Thrones fans worldwide.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “Our 2015 campaign is a fun and innovative way to bring the destination to the attention of Game of Thrones fans worldwide. They will see these ads, spiking their curiosity about the landscapes and locations featured in the series and inspiring them to come and explore them for themselves.”
