Galway’s King’s Head Named Just Ask Restaurant of the Month

The King’s Head in Galway city centre has been awarded the Bord Bia Just Ask Restaurant of the Month award for August 2015.

Owned and managed by the Grealish family for more than 25 years, The King’s Head is a food pub that shares a food philosophy with its sister restaurant The Chop House – a commitment to locally sourced food and ingredients.

Bord Bia’s Just Ask campaign encourages diners to look for information on where the food on their plate comes from when eating out. The Restaurant of the Month award is given to restaurants and cafés that demonstrate best practice in providing customers with this information.

“Our menu is short and to the point, with an ongoing commitment to sourcing the best local produce,” said head chef Brendan Keane. “We source our chicken from the Friendly Farmer in Athenry, our corned beef and sausages from Colleran’s Butchers across the street, and smoked Connemara lamb from McGeough’s of Oughterard. Burren Smokehouse provide our smoked salmon; our beef is always Irish and our fish and vegetables are sourced as locally as we can find them.”
