Handsome Burger has opened their first casual eatery in Galway’s west end. Started in 2016 as a street food stall by Rory McCormack and Cathal O’Connor, the Handsome Burger has matured nicely into an award winning eat. What started with Rory and Cathal has grown into a team of 16 and a fixed address on Dominick Street in an area of Galway that is home to the best restaurants in the country.
The Handsome Burger established itself with Galwegians through pop-up events, at local markets and catering to private functions. The ethos of Handsome is like every good idea: very simple. They bring local, seasonal and flavour together, using Brady’s butchers from Athenry and Herterich’s on Market Street in Galway City.
The Handsome Brady’s Beef Burger served with sticky onions, pickled cucumber and a signature Handsome Sauce is the best seller. Another is the veggie Handsome named the Bhaji – a spinach and chickpea bhaji, tandoori onions, feta cheese, cucumber and mint raita, chillies and Handsome Chutney all served in a brioche bun.
The Handsome fries are triple-fried in rapeseed oil, which allows them to have a fluffy interior and a beautiful crispy outer layer. They are then tossed in sea salt and rosemary before being served as is or being loaded up with a wide range of Handsome trimmings.
“The Handsome loaded fries are one of our best sellers: parmesan and Herterich’s Maple Bacon Loaded Fries, fiery Cecina Pablo Chorizo, fried chillies, onions with a cool mint and garlic aioli“ explained Rory McCormack, co-owner of Handsome Burger.
Coming soon is the Handsome Shake, using scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry Connemara Ice Cream.
