Images of Ireland will be beamed into the homes of around 230,000 people across France later this year, in an episode of a popular travel TV show called Invitation au Voyage.

The show airs on the ARTE network, a Franco-German channel focusing on culture and the arts. It will also be available for two years through ARTE’s online catch-up site. Filming took place in Ireland, supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

Viewers of Invitation au Voyage will be taken on a 40 minute journey around Ireland, focusing counties Dublin, Leitrim, Sligo, Galway, Kerry and Cork.

Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Southern Europe, said: “Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies in France and elsewhere around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes around the island of Ireland.”

2017 was a record year for Irish tourism from France, when we welcomed almost 550,000 French visitors, and Tourism Ireland is looking to build on that success.
