Being environmentally sustainable is more in the public consciousness than ever before, and Earth Day has taken on a new precedence.

For producers, especially wine makers, it’s a chance to highlight how they’re making changes to their working practises without compromising on flavor. The Hidden Sea exemplifies this.

Known as the “Wine That Saves The Sea,” The Hidden Sea was founded by Australian entrepreneur Justin Moran and retired AFL star Richie Vandenberg to make a positive, verifiable impact on the planet and address the global need to reduce oceanic plastic waste. For every bottle sold, 10 plastic bottles are removed from the ocean, and since July 2020, The Hidden Sea has removed over 18.5 million bottles, striving to reach the audacious goal of removing 1 billion bottles by 2030.

The Hidden Sea’s Red Blend, Rosé, and Chardonnay wines are vegan-friendly and inspire all to join not just a drinking moment, but a movement by sipping with a purpose!

Richie is a 4th generation grape grower, with over 25 years with his family enterprise, Vandenberg Wine, of which he even became a cofounder in 2013 with the goal of creating premium wine and continuing family tradition.

Aussie born-and-raised Justin Moran joined Richie and his mission of making a positive, verifiable impact on the planet with over a decade of successful business experience and is even recognized as one of the Top 30 people who influenced Victoria, AUS in 2006.

“What makes The Hidden Sea unique in a crowded space of thousands of wine brands is we lead with our purpose and promise. One Wine. One Mission. To remove plastic from the ocean,” says Justin Moran.
