Lizzy Lyons, founder of Lizzy’s Little Kitchen in Listowel, Co. Kerry, has been named as the 2018 Local Food Hero at this year’s Listowel Food Fair.
The Kerry native, who founded Lizzy’s Little Kitchen in 2014, was presented with the award at a gala dinner in the Listowel Arms Hotel on Saturday 10th November 2018.
Speaking at the awards, Lizzie said: “Words cannot express how delighted I am to be recognised by my local community. I am deeply humbled and would like to express by deepest gratitude to everyone who supports me personally and professionally.”
The Flogas Ireland Ambassador, who regularly appears on the cookery slot on Virgin Media One’s Weekend AM, spent a number of years working in London. It was there as Catering Manager with Universal Music that the seed for Lizzy’s Little Kitchen was planted and having worked in the hospitality sector on her return to Ireland, Lizzy embraced self employment when she started selling her dishes at the Friday market in Listowel.
In summer 2016 Lizzy’s Little Kitchen put down roots on Lower William Street in Listowel. The menu changes daily and always features a chowder, fresh salads and curries made from scratch.
A collection of 10 of Lizzy’s favourite dishes has been published in collaboration with Flogas Ireland, who appointed her as brand ambassador in 2017.
In addition, Lizzy regularly hosts supper clubs and this December will curate The 12 Tastes of Christmas Tapas Party Nights.
