A chip shop in England has created what it claims to be the world’s spiciest fish & chips – so much so that diners must sign a waiver before eating.
Father and son team Nick and David Miller run Millers Fish and Chips in Haxby, York, and created the meal with ten spicy ingredients including hot chilli powder, dried red birds eye chillies, cayenne pepper and chipotle chilli flakes, before smothering everything in chillies and hot sauce. For added effect, the fish includes a sprinkling of Seabrook Fire Eaters Scorchin’ Hot Trinidad Scorpion Chilli Crisps.
The family developed the dish, which costs £6.50 for a standard portion, over the course of a month, testing various recipes on staff members and loyal customers.
“It’s important to offer something a bit different now and again. We’ve ended up with a battered fillet which tastes incredible but is ridiculously spicy,” said Nick.
The fourth generation chip shop was named the UK’s favourite chipper in the 2018 National Fish & Chips Awards, and is MSC (Marie Stewardship Council) certified.
