Fáilte Ireland puts Golfing to the Fore

Fáilte Ireland’s annual golf promotion night took place on Tuesday 6th February in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.

At the event over 40 exhibitors from golf courses throughout Ireland showcased their resorts to consumers in Northern Ireland. Exhibitors included Farnham Estate Spa & Golf Resort, Donegal Golf Club, Howth Castle, and Diamond Coast Hotel.

In attendance was 370 golfers, including members of local golf societies and golf clubs, who, as well as finding out what Ireland’s golf scene has to offer, enjoyed briefings, networking opportunities, a golf simulator and spot prizes.

Ireland boasts over 400 golf courses and hosts over 190,000 golf tourists each year. Worth an estimated €200m to the economy, the sport plays a significant role in the Irish tourism industry.

Martin Donnelly, Business Development Manager with Fáilte Ireland, explains the importance of such events for golf tourism in Ireland: “The Northern Ireland market is very important to the Irish golf industry, not just for the border counties, but right across the country, and that is reflected in the number of clubs who have partnered with Fáilte Ireland on our Golf Ireland Promotion Night.

“Brexit has presented our tourism industry with challenges. However, we believe the quality of our golfing product and the amazing value we can offer Northern Irish consumers can help us in promoting activity from the north.”
