Guinness has launched a new €3m funding pool, designed to help kickstart new projects in the fields of arts, sports, music and food.
The Arthur Guinness Projects will offer funding from €5,000 to €50,000 across the four categories, hoping to fund up to 20 projects a year over the next 3 years. Companies can apply for the scheme via the official website, which are then put up to a public vote. The top 10% of of entries are then reviewed by four expert judges in each area, who then select the winners. Every winner also receives a mentoring and support package from the judges, who also have the chance to select a wildcard entry from the pool of entrants.
The panelists come from a variety of backgrounds and include The Script, who performed at the fund’s launch event in the Guinness Storehouse, actor Chris O’Dowd and chef Dylan McGrath.
“These are the people who believe in Ireland. They see it as a brilliant place to live and work,” said Guinness’s Stephen O’Kelly, who emphasised the drive behind the program being to support innovative and creative people and ideas.
