The Old Ground Hotel, Ennis, recently unveiled its refurbished Banner Room banqueting suite following a €300,000 makeover earlier this year.
A factor in the decision to upgrade the Banner Room in the Flynn family owned property was the significant wedding trade seen by the hotel in recent times.
Speaking about the project, proprietor of the Old Ground, Allen Flynn, said: “We now have a new focus on our very successful wedding market and a more discerning conference client, and decided it was time that the banqueting suite reflected this. The upgraded ballroom sees a more flexible offering that can be dressed according to needs, ideal for today’s weddings and events.”
The four star Old Ground Hotel is located in the heart of Ennis and right on the doorstep of the Cliffs of Moher and Wild Atlantic Way. The project was led by designer Lucinda Batt from The Interior Library, with input from Allen Flynn on all elements of the refurbishment.
The refurbishment project also saw the addition of two air-conditioned deluxe bedrooms to the hotel’s Manor House. Each new room features a walk in shower set in the original window bay of the room.
The Old Ground’s food offering complements the upgraded banqueting suite, featuring local produce such as Burren lamb and seafood caught on the Clare coast, all prepared by Head Chef Freddie Rynne and his team.
The works in the Old Ground are part of a €3m investment in refurbishment works across the Flynn Hotel group’s four properties, which also include the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny; The Imperial Hotel, Cork City; and The Park Hotel, Dungarvan.
