Donal Cox Appointed GM of Lough Eske Hotel

Donal Cox has been appointed as the new General Manager of Lough Eske Castle Hotel in Donegal, a five star destination located just outside Donegal Town.

Donal has joined Lough Eske from sister hotel Redcastle Hotel & Spa in North Donegal, and will be returning to Lough Eske after previously being employed as Operations Manager seven years ago.

Summer 2018 has been a strong business season for the hotel, with revenue up 10% and an increase of 4% in occupancy compared to summer 2017. Harcourt Developments has invested in the castle over the last 12 months; developing a new driveway, refreshing castle grounds, installing new bespoke carpets throughout hallways and bedroom areas, and building a new helipad at the front of the castle. A new Tower Suite being launched in the coming weeks.

Donal is originally from Garvary, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, and graduated from Thames Valley, London. Donal’s first role in the industry was head waiter in banqueting at the Castle Hotel Windsor. He has worked in the industry in Co. Donegal since 1993, managing the Mt Errigal, Letterkenny, for many years and spending time as General Manager in An Chúirt, Gweedore. Donal owned and operated two of his own café and restaurant businesses in Letterkenny before joining Lough Eske Castle in 2011.
