Diner Accidentally Served £4,500 Wine

A lucky diner in Manchester, England, was accidentally served a £4,500 bottle of red wine at an upmarket steak and seafood chain.

Hawksmoor in Manchester put out a tweet reading: “To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4500 on our menu, last night – hope you enjoyed your evening!”

The upbeat tweet continued: “To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway.”

The customer had, in fact, ordered a £260 bottle of the Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2001.

One Twitter user, @misterstevehs, replied, seemingly implying he was the lucky diner: “I don’t know about 4500 quid, but it was nice when we added the lemonade and ice cubes…”

A number of other Twitter users praised Hawksmoor for the positive response to the staff member.
