Design Firm Awarded Central Plaza Contract

Irish owned and operated design firm Serendipity By Design has been awarded the contract for the interior architecture and design for the new Central Plaza rooftop F&B, on the site of the former Central Bank on Dublin’s Dame St.

Serendipity By Design entered the Irish architecture and interior design market last year, having been concentrating on the middle east from its Dubai offices in recent years. It has completed contracts for some of the largest residential developers in the region, as well as international hotel operators and food & bev brands.

The firm is owned by UCD graduate, Rebecca Gernon, and locally managed in Ireland by IADT graduate Paolo Cafolla.

The company has been tasked with the design of multiple F&B experiences that will compliment each other on the 9th and 10th floor of Central Plaza Dublin, as well as areas sch as the designated ground floor lift lobby / entrance and the 360 degree wrap around terrace.

“To successfully design these outlets for efficient operations alongside an outstanding end user experience is an exciting challenge due to the buildings amazing original architecture by Sam Stephenson that was ahead of its time. One of only a handful of buildings in the world were the entire structure is suspended from the central cores.

“The building’s new architecture elements designed by Henry J Lyons with the direction of owners Hines have made this building one of Ireland’s best. We want to ensure that the venue is active and attractive from early morning to late evening for passing footfall, tourists, local shoppers, office workers and corporates looking to utilise the venue for events,” Said Rebecca Gernon.

Speaking about the new design contract, Paolo Cafolla, Commercial & Marketing Director, said: “We are really thrilled to be involved in this iconic Dublin city project. We expect the unique rooftop experience to be a focal point of all F&B on the island of Ireland. We hope that as many as possible will visit to enjoy not only the best panoramic views of the city but the atmosphere and interiors that we have already started to create.”

Paolo added: “We are delighted to be designing this project using virtual reality technology from the outset so that every inch of the venue will experienced by the owners and operators well before a fit out contractor is even appointed.”
