Deliveroo Projected to create 1,300 Jobs by 2020

Deliveroo is projected to create 1,300 jobs in Ireland worth €37.5m in GDP by 2020, according to a new report commissioned by the food delivery company.

The report looked at the increased revenues received by restaurants and their suppliers, the spending of self-employed Deliveroo riders and employees, the spending by Deliveroo on its suppliers, and the tax generated by Deliveroo’s operations.

Currently, 590 people across the country work for or with Deliveroo, in addition to the 1,000 riders working with the company.

According to the report, Deliveroo generates over €36m additional revenue for the restaurant sector in Ireland, of which €24.5m is in chain restaurants, and €11.7m in independent restaurants.

In total, Deliveroo supports 67,000 jobs across the economies of the markets in which it operates, on top of 130,000 self-employed riders.

If Deliveroo were to continue to grow at the same rate it is today, the report estimates that it would support somewhere in the region of 200,000 jobs and €4.6bn of economic output globally by 2020.

Deliveroo UK & Ireland Managing Director, Dan Warne, said: “We are delighted to see that our efforts are resulting in significant increases in revenues for restaurants already, as well as creating more well-paid local jobs, but we want to go further. Deliveroo has ambitious growth targets for Ireland and we look forward to continuing to work with the very best Irish restaurants, delivering their amazing meals in record time.”
