Dela Restaurant in Galway has been named the Best Traditional Irish Restaurant of the Year, at the annual Food Awards Ireland.
The awards, which took place in Dublin, saw restaurants from across the country nominated in a range of categories.
Dela, located on Dominick Street in Galway’s west end, is as famous for its brunch options as it is for its creative evening menus, which change according to ingredient availability each week. The restaurant is co-owned by Mags and Joe Bohan.
Every Tuesday to Thursday until 7pm and on Friday and Saturday evening until 6:30pm, Dela hosts #dinnerwithnotions, which marries the restaurant’s passion for organic produce from its own farm with locally sourced meat and fish from Gannet Fishmongers, Herterichs Pork Butchers and Brady’s Butchers in Athenry.
Much of Dela’s vegetables is supplied from the restaurant’s own farm in Moycullen, which has been in operation since early 2017. The 3,000 sq ft polytunnel exclusively supplies organic produce for the restaurant.
