To kick-start the countdown to The 148th Open at Royal Portrush, Tourism Ireland in Britain has teamed up with Sky Sports Golf to run a campaign to promote golfing in Ireland.
The campaign includes a series of four short videos voiced by Darren Clarke which will run on the Sky Sports website. The videos will also be promoted on the Sky Advance catch-up platform. In the videos, viewers will see Darren describe Irish golf, his pride in the fact that The 148th Open will return to Royal Portrush in July and why the welcome for overseas visitors to Ireland is world famous.
The campaign features a competition to win a once in a lifetime trip to The Open for four people. The videos and competition will be promoted through ads on the Sky Sports website and on the social channels of Sky Sports, reaching an estimated 4.2m golf enthusiasts across Britain.
This is just one element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of promotional activity to capitalise on The 148th Open at Royal Portrush for overseas tourism this year.
Julie Wakely, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said: “This is just one element of Tourism Ireland’s extensive programme of promotions to mark The Open returning to Northern Ireland this year, for the first time in 68 years.”
