Compass Group Ireland has announced an exclusive partnership with The Happy Pear that will see Happy Pear branded food outlets open up across the Compass Group network of client sites.
The announcement was made at Compass Group’s ninth annual Food that Works summit at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, on 20th November. Over 400 people attended, including representatives from the foodservice, technology, sustainability and health and wellbeing sectors who shared insights on trends influencing food in the workplace.
The partnership will see the initial rollout of five new locations across workplaces in the Compass Group Ireland network. The offering will include a selection of vegan and vegetarian options, as well as sandwiches, salads, soups and hot food bowls. The Happy Pear’s hand-roasted coffee and cakes will also be made available to Compass Group Ireland foodservice locations.
Founded in 2004 in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, by twin brothers David and Stephen Flynn, The Happy Pear is a plant-based food business, promoting natural, healthier eating to consumers in Ireland and the United Kingdom. The business has grown to now employ over 120 people.
Speaking at the announcement, David Flynn, co-founder of the Happy Pear, said: “We are thrilled to announce this partnership with Compass Group Ireland. This allows us to share our food to a wider audience; bringing health, happiness and community to those in the workplace. Partnering with Compass Group Ireland will allow us to deliver wholesome, healthy food to more of Ireland’s workers.”
Chris Chidley, Managing Director, Compass Group Ireland, said: “This partnership comes at a time when our customers are looking for a greater selection of healthy offerings; the growth in veganism and flexitarian diets in Ireland means we need to ensure our offerings are meeting the needs and wants of those in the workplace. We look forward to continuing our commitment with our partners, The Happy Pear, and delivering the best, innovative food concepts to all our clients.”
