Celtic Whiskey has launched the first batch of The Celt Irish Whiskey, independently bottled through the Celtic Whiskey Shop and sold exclusively through their shop on Dawson Street and their online store www.celticwhiskeyshop.com.
Celtic Whiskey has been buying casks of whiskey from different Irish distilleries dating back well over a decade. Their initial adventures were buying casks from Cooley distillery and finishing them in wine casks supplied by a number of the wineries that Celtic Whiskey import from. This is how their own, award-winning, brand of whiskey, Celtic Cask, was born in 2012.
Since then they have released twenty nine Celtic Casks, one Dingle Celt and a Celtic Whiskey Shop anniversary bottling. In recent years, they have purchased casks from nearly all of the new distilleries in Ireland and these are slowly maturing for future single cask or small batch releases, such as that of the first small batch release of The Celt Irish Whiskey.
The Celt Irish Whiskey An Chead Bhlás, or First Taste, is a single malt, finished in sherry casks from an unspecified Irish distillery. It is a non- age statement whiskey and bottled at 46% ABV. It retails at €75.
Founder and Managing Director of the Celtic Whiskey brand, Ally Alpine, said: “Our goal with The Celt is to release what we consider are excellent, tasty whiskeys at affordable prices. Unusually, for Celtic Whiskey, we are limiting the product info on the whiskey as we aren’t looking for comparisons with the distilleries that distilled them. We would like them to be enjoyed & shared for their quality rather than having any collectible value.”
With the cancellation of Whiskey Live Dublin 2020 due to COVID 19, Celtic Whiskey will aim to raise funds for their charity partner Down Syndrome Dublin by alternative methods. Therefore €5 from each bottle of The Celt sold will be directly donated to this cause.
