Former Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll has invested in Glendalough Distillery, taking an undisclosed stake in the fledgling craft spirits specialist.
O’Driscoll will become part owner of the Wicklow-based distiller which has recently launched overseas in America and Australia.
The company, founded in 2011, has also announced an expansion to its portfolio and will now produce whiskey and seasonal gin in addition to its initial offering of poitin.
“We are delighted to be launching both our single malt whiskey and Ireland’s first seasonal gin,” said Barry Gallagher, MD of Glendalough, said to the Irish Times.
Glendalough will launch its first whiskey, a seven year-old single malt, later this month. Its seasonal gin will be launched in the autumn.
