Scottish brewer and pub firm BrewDog has “just started” the switch to making hand sanitiser at its distillery in Scotland, in a bid to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The company has released images of what it is calling “Punk Sanitiser” (reflecting the name of its well-known Punk IPA beer brand).
Co-founder James Watt said the company, which has lost 70% of its income “almost overnight”, will not be selling the sanitiser but giving it “to those who need it”.
In a statement, the company said: “We are determined to do everything we can to try and help as many people as possible stay safe. It’s time to keep clean.”
Ordinarily, BrewDog makes Rogue Wave vodka, Zealot’s Heart and Lonewolf gin. It is not clear whether or not production of these products will continue alongside the sanitiser.
